August 10th is International S'mores Day people and while you never need an excuse to enjoy this most Canadian of campfire desserts, you almost have an obligation to enjoy this sticky treat tonight.
While we page homage to the classic s'more, we've also prepared some delightful alternatives for those who like to walk on the wild side. So gather your friends, family and neighbours around the campfire and get your s'more on!
S'Moreos
Does your life strongly resemble a country and western song right now? If you're broke, heartbroken or lonely, let me give you a new reason to live... I present the S'moreo.
- 4 Oreo Cookies
- 4 Marshmallows
- 4 Graham Crackers (halved)
- 4 Teaspoons Peanut Butter
Smear a teaspoon of peanut butter on one side of four of the Graham Cracker halves. Place the Oreo cookies on the peanut butter. Over medium coals, roast your marshmallows on a stick and lay one on top of each Oreo. Top with the remaining Graham cracker halves. Make history.
Salty Bacon S'mores
Sweet Odin's beard! Are you ready for this? I think you'd better sit down, take a deep breath. Right... this is how it goes:
- 4 Graham Crackers (halved)
- 4 Pieces Salted Caramel Chocolate
- 4 Slices of Bacon
- 4 Marshmallows
Heat up the barbecue or set the grill on the campfire. Cook the bacon until crispy. Just before it's ready, roast your marshmallows on a long stick. Now assemble your s'mores; start with a half a Graham Cracker, top with the marshmallow, then add the chocolate and bacon and finish with the other half of the Graham Cracker... Mind. Blown.
Fancy Pansy S'mores
Hot date? Show them you're more class than ass with these super snooty s'mores.
- 4 Graham Crackers (halved)
- 4 Pieces Dark Chocolate
- 4 Slices of Brie Cheese
- 1 Ripe Peach (sliced)
Heat the barbecue to a medium heat or place a grill over your campfire. Grill peach slices on both sides for two minutes or until soft. While you're grilling the peaches, place a Graham Cracker half topped with brie cheese on the grill and bake with the lid closed until the cheese starts to melt.
To serve, place the chocolate on top of the cheese, followed by the peach with the second Graham Cracker on the top. Brace yourself for undying devotion from your dinner date.
