Protective and preventative beauty products may not be as glamorous as creamy lipsticks or glossy polishes, but they are a skincare staple for fun in the sun. For the best results, look after your skin from sunscreen application to after sun care, and choose products that work with your skin type.

Sensitive Skin

Canadian sunscreen brand Ombrelle is hypoallergenic, non-comedogenic, fragrance free, and colorant free. Formulated for sensitive skin, their product portfolio includes sport, face, daily usage, and children's sunscreen.

Oil Free

Steer clear of oil with Kiehl's Super Fluid UV Defense Sunscreen. The lightweight water-resistant formula can be used under your makeup, and protects against damaging UVA and UVB rays.

Lips and Face

When applying sunscreen, it's easy to forget to protect your lips. Vichy's new Capital Soleil Lip Stick is one of the few products available for lips that includes SPF 30 protection. It's paraben- and fragrance-free, and can also be used on sensitive areas like around the eyes.

Dry Skin

If your skin is always thirsty for moisture, choose a sunscreen that will hydrate sensitive, dry skin. Aveeno's Protect + Hydrate Sunscreen protects skin with an SPF of 50, and also hydrates with an oil-free formula.

Extra Protection

A potent antioxidant, SkinCeuticals CE Ferulic offers advanced protection against sun damage by neutralizing free radicals, boosting collagen synthesis, and providing antioxidant protection. It increases skin's photoprotection by eight times, and should be worn in addition to sunscreen. Once absorbed into the skin, the serum can't be washed or rubbed off and remains protective for up to four days.

After Sun Care

Have too much fun in the sun? Reach for a hydrating product that will soothe sore skin like Korres Yoghurt Cooling Gel. This dermatologist-tested product hydrates dry and burnt skin while relieving excessive heat and stinging.
