I am a radio show host and producer, and audio editor in the Calgary area and I attend a Baptist Church.
We recently celebrated Thanksgiving and we can thank God for the blessings that He has given us as Calgarians. Our energy resources in Alberta are a divine gift that has brought prosperity and blessing to us all. Unfortunately, the ungrateful and unthankful have a way of twisting things out of perspective through phony environmentalism, or misplaced maudlin sympathies like putting a dog's head on a turkey and saying "would you eat your dog?" These billboards were to be placed near schools.
We have a Broken Covenant as a City with the God of the Bible that needs to be renewed if we are to find our 'way back to where we once belonged.' Get back, Get back, to avoiding things in the streets of Calgary that bring down the displeasure of God. Deuteronomy 6:15 warns us what the end result of turning our back on God can be.
"The Lord your God, who is among you, is a jealous God and his anger will burn against you, and he will destroy you from the face of the land." If it happened to the ancient Israelites, it could happen to a nation that once covenanted with the same God of the Bible. This is after all the adopted hometown of William Aberhart and Ernest Manning. Is it totally surprising that something big could happen here again?
Isaiah 42:8 8 "I am the LORD; that is my name! I will not yield my glory to another or my praise to idols.
Our race no matter what colour, is an unchangeable God-given-gift to be celebrated.
But a religion can be inadequate to the task at hand that we as Candidates face in office. Both Christianity and Islam are multi-racial faiths, so we must quit confusing religion with race. One you can change if need be, the other is a fixed attribute.
But I firmly believe it is a mistake for Calgarians to endorse a candidate swearing in to office based on the Koran, although it is allowed legally. The values from that book do not produce a basis for maintaining a Western Democracy. Worldwide, dictatorships oppressive to women, children and minorities are the rule of the day. The horrific results fill much of our international television and internet news on a daily basis.
The Bible teaches that every knee will bow, and every tongue confess, and declare that Jesus Christ is Lord. No one who takes their Christianity seriously can yield the sovereignty of Christ to another, and it is after all the basis for the most successful flowering of democracy anywhere in the world.
Get back, Get back,Get back to where you once belonged. I, Larry Heather, by God's favour, seek to be, your 36th Christian mayor of Calgary.
In the coming four years, you want a mayor who will clear the decks for Calgary's natural resources sector to flourish in a competitive environment. We do not need the self-cutter abuse of the alarmist Green House Gas report in our City. Naheed Nenshi was featured in a video at a fundraising event aimed at an anti-Oil sands event held by the Pembina Institute. He touted Pembina as Canada's best think and do think tank. He promoted their Clean Energy Future objectives and so do foreign funding sources who also seek to alter the atmosphere of oil production in Calgary.
'Clean Energy Future' to Pembina means the elimination of the use of Fossil Fuels. From the Chief Elected Official of Calgary yet. The Mayor of the largest Oil City in Canada. You can heard the recording on my website.
That is like a chicken giving a testimonial for Colonel Sanders.
