It's not like I want to give credit to huge retailers and big food for making change, and I'm certainly not advocating for anyone to start eating fast food, or shopping big box before local indie. But sometimes, a cluster of announcements, no matter how small on their own, give me some hope -- hope for change, hope that our voices are being heard, and our spending trends and demands matter.
So, let the following show that we are making a difference together, and inspire us to keep at it. But please, let's not put a halo over these retailers and chains...they are still not part of the solution, they are just struggling to be less of a problem for now! Let's applaud them, and keep this momentum and trend up. Let's demand more, and keep buying, supporting and eating what we know is great for us.

I encourage you to also read "What Nestle's Decision to Dump Food Dyes Says About the Movement" by Robyn O'Brien. "Real food sells" -- let's eat as much of it as we can -- it's good for us in every way.
Let's all question everything we purchase and eat, get to know our food and our food system, and create our own rules, on our own terms based on what feels right to us. These are the food rules that feel right for me.
