Canadian diplomats

I attended a conference on Canadian culture to which several dozen undergraduate students came by bus from cities several hours away. They had learned about Canada from teachers who themselves had benefited from the tiny grants which once allowed them to visit Canada or order the books and other materials on which their teaching depended.
Dear Prime Minister Harper: We do not want to be on strike. Challenging our own government goes against our very nature as diplomats and disrupts our ability to get things done for Canadians. This is not about diplomats getting a raise. This is about equal pay for equal work.
Though expelling the Syrian ambassadors is an important step, this neither brings the murdered children back to life, nor will it protect the remaining children from being killed. The statements made by Western nations about expelling Syrian ambassadors should never drown out the shrieks of the children who were slaughtered in Hawla, Homs, and Daraa.
