Coming from the GMO biotech industry, the term "sound science" rings extremely hollow. The industry carries out inadequate, short-term studies and conceals the data produced by its research under the guise of commercial confidentiality while independent research highlights the dangers of its products.
Walking towards the mirror I was sure I had a stray lash or speck of dust in my eye; it was extremely itchy. But my face paled at the sight of my lower eyelid, swollen, red, and throbbing. Next was my lower lip on the same side; the interior buzzing with irritation and puffing up against my teeth.
As you may already know, I've been on a mission to meet Canada's Health Minister, Rona Ambrose in person to discuss the important and urgent issue of GMO labeling. To date, I've sent her three letters via courier, and received absolutely no response. Below is the third letter that I sent her.
Food labeling is extremely important for consumers, especially those of us who strive to maintain a healthy lifestyle. But what if labels aren't accurate? What if labels are ambiguous and misleading? What if most people don't fully understand how to read these labels? Unfortunately, these issues are all very real.
Checking the "best before" and "expiry date" labels on foods, from milk and cheese to bread and meats, is one of the first
