Although birth photography has become a growing trend, one photographer decided to capture another equally momentous occasion
The legacy of the plantation will be seen today on social media with single mothers being told "Happy Father's Day." Such open congratulatory shout-outs are definitely a testament to the ability of those mothers. But it's also an open indictment of the broken models of fatherhood existing in their lives. It's sad really, but predictable because the model itself within the black community is in dire need of repair.
Choosing to adopt is a big decision. It takes months of planning, prepping and waiting for the child’s arrival. But while
In May 2014, Mary and Kaspars got a phone call that would forever change their lives. “Mary? Kaspars? Guess what? We have
While crowdfunding sites were created to give the underdog a chance and essentially foster free enterprise where start-ups are concerned, it never occurred to me to use these platforms as an opportunity to raise funds for personal pursuits. Especially something as personal as adopting a baby. But does that make it wrong, unethical or crass, even? What do you think? Today however, after a long and intense look into my past, the scene that took place some 35 years ago is a comforting memory not only because it coincides with the real beginning of my life, but because it also serves as a reminder of all that had to happen in the years before that meeting.
If you feel you are ready one day to welcome muddy paws onto your furniture (I say that lovingly), please adopt. This story about a dog that survived Euthanasia recently should have done wonders for educating people about how quickly a dog will be killed after being surrendered by their owner, simply because nobody wants it (two weeks!).
Previous reports stated that Maxim had a positive relationship with Massimo Maravalle and his wife Patrizia but questions are now being raised about what signs may have been missed. Other witnesses have reported that the suspect had been seen shaking Maxim a few days before his death although it is still unknown whether psychiatric problems contributed to his actions.
Very shortly after finding out I was approved to adopt, my adoption worker came to my home to tell me about two amazing adolescent sisters: Charity and Emily. I sat at my kitchen table for the rest of the night, staring straight ahead like a deer in the headlights, thinking about everything the worker had asked me to consider.
