4 Tips to Organize your Kitchen
It's officially spring and spring-cleaning is in full swing! What better place to start than the kitchen - a place where most families congregate.
Here are four tips from professional organizers in Canada that will help with time management in your kitchen:
Menu Board -- this is a must! This keeps the fridge minimally stocked with only the basics and the food that you need for the one-week. It also prevents you from overbuying, impulse buying, rotting food, crowded fridges (which run inefficiently and prevents air flow) and you will never have to ask yourself what's for dinner at six o'clock at night after a busy day at work.
Pantry Packs-- Try organizing your pantry by putting often-made dinner items together. For example, for a chilli meal, you can put the different types of beans and the canned mushrooms and the tomato sauce together in one spot so that you can easily see what you have for a quick and easy dinner. This also makes things easier when you're making your grocery list!
Fruits/Veggies -- Dump all your vegetables and fruit in the sink as soon as you get in the door from grocery shopping. Fill it with cold water, add a veggie/fruit soak for 15 minutes and let it dry. This will save time when you go to cook and everything is pre-washed. Take the extra step to cut up the veggies and put them in clear containers so you can grab and go quickly, make lunches simply and choose a healthy snack (since it's already cut up).
Rewards -- Remember to put out some fresh cut flowers when you're done. It's the perfect job-well-done gift to you and it completes the look of a freshly tidied space.
