I have skin that is over 40 and a little oily, it can be tricky to find the right coverage. Then combine this with hot and humid weather and it makes it even more complex.
How can I get the right coverage and apply cosmetics without having eye shadow in the creases and powder settling into lines? How can I create that perfect even glow in the warmer months?
To find out all the latest cosmetic trends and tips for the perfect summer skin, I spoke with Harvey Tsao, regional sales and training manager at Chantecaille. Harvey shared with me how anyone can look and feel their best this summer.
What are the top trends for cosmetics this summer?
The top trend for cosmetics this summer will be focusing on a bright, glowing complexion with a sculpted cheek and face. To create this finish, you will need to use a liquid lumiere sheen, liquid highlighter which you can mix with your foundation to create the dewy glowing finish as a base and also a bronzer to create the shadow with natural cheek shade to give you the definition.
This summer's eye focus is a shimmery wash of colour in a golden and lavender tone. Lip will be a vibrant orange or pink colour with a bit of shine to create the look of healthy lips (instead of too much gloss).
How to keep your look fresh this season?
Creating this glow complexion look with silver wash shadow will keep your look fresh for the season. Don't forget to play around with your highlighters, this is definitely the trend. And also remember to focus on your skincare. Add a few drops of oil in your skincare will keep your skin moisturized all day long without smudging your makeup.
Any tips for mature skin in the summer (what colours or foundation to wear when it is more humid out)?
Definitely mixing face oil with moisturiser to keep your skin nourished and hydrated, in order to prevent cracking of the makeup. Use a light gel foundation which will keep the skin looking even and cream or gel cheek shade to avoid powdery feeling. Eye colour should be kept to a minimum and not applied over the creases.
What are the latest innovations in cosmetics?
BB Cushion foundation is the latest innovation in cosmetics. Almost everyone is using that in Asia. A BB Cushion is a lighter cousin of the BB (or CC) cream and has a more watery consistency. But it still has sun protection and it is put into a compact with a sponge. When you press down on the sponge then you will have more BB cream applied to your sponge. You then use the sponge to apply the BB cream.
Any other tips?
Always protect your skin from the sun. Make sure to remove your dead skin cells with gentle exfoliation more often during the summer to keep your skin glowing and looking fresh. Keep away from too much lip gloss.
