Single? Here's How You Can Find Love Over The Holidays

One of the best parts about dating during the holidays is that it's naturally a romantic time of the year, especially for us lucky Canadians. The snowy atmosphere provides not only the perfect cozy setting to snuggle up with your sweetie, but also the opportunity for new dating adventures.

It is possible to find love at any time of the year, but recently I was lucky enough to speak with Kimberly Moffit, Match.com's Canadian relationship expert with a doctoral degree in psychology.

Kimberly shared her top 10 tips for finding love over the holidays:

1. Go to holiday events throughout the city

No matter where you live, your community is bound to be alive with holiday cheer. Head to your local city center and take in the lights and the festivities. There's something about a festive event that brings people out. Maybe you'll meet someone new!

2. Volunteer

The holiday season is certainly the season of giving and what better way to give back than to lend a hand to a cause or organization close to your heart? Helping others is a surefire way to make a difference and meet likeminded people. Who knows, you might meet someone with a big heart!

3. Join an online dating site

It's the busiest time of year! The holidays don't need to be a singleton's nightmare. In fact, the holiday season can be one of the very best times to kick start your dating life online.

4. Go on holiday-themed dates

One of the best parts about dating during the holidays is that it's naturally a romantic time of the year, especially for us lucky Canadians. The snowy atmosphere provides not only the perfect cozy setting to snuggle up with your sweetie, but also the opportunity for new dating adventures. A festive activity like ice skating will add a novel aspect to an existing relationship and allow new lovers to bond over a shared activity.

5. Go on lunch or brunch dates

The classic dinner or coffee dates can get stale. With so much free time around the holidays, why not change gears and go for a leisurely lunch? Allowing yourself the extra time to get to know your date will help you get to know them better sooner!

6. Travel

According to Moffit, Match found that 46 per cent of people say they would start a relationship with someone they met while on vacation. Spend some time out of town and keep your eyes peeled. After all, love knows no borders.

7. Head to holiday parties

Holiday season also means party season! Between office parties, social gatherings and family get togethers, there are endless opportunities to dress up and celebrate. When you're dressed to the nines you often feel your best. Let this confidence radiate and perhaps you'll attract a new mate!

8. Surround yourself with the people who love you

The best part of the holiday season is the time spent with family and friends. Relish in the good vibes from the ones who know and love you the most. Get re-energized and you'll be ready to date in no time!

9. Make that move

Why wait? Is there someone you've been eyeing all year? Whether it's in person or online, be daring and finally ask them out. Confidence is one of the most attractive qualities to both sexes so show off your bold side and make the first move!

10. Meet under the mistletoe

An oldie, but a goodie! This is the one time of the year when this festive décor is everywhere. Take advantage of the season and find yourself under the mistletoe with the person you have your eye on.

Your suggestions are always welcome, as I continue on my journey to enjoy life to the fullest. Let's have the very best holidays ever!
