One of my best friends used to tell me over and over again (for years) that I need to tint my eyebrows. I knew she was right, when I would have my photo taken my blonde shapeless eyebrows would fade into the rest of my face.

I don't know why I didn't listen to my good friendly earlier. Having eyebrows that are shaped for your face and with a tint can make a huge difference for photographs and the impact of your eyes.

Celebrities have known this for a long time.. Jennifer Lawrence, Cara Delevingne, Rihanna, Beyoncé and the most glamorous star, Audrey Hepburn.

I spoke with Kiran at Blink Brow Bar in Vancouver and she shared with me her 17 years of experience shaping and tinting eyebrows.

Kiran told me that anyone can have their eyebrows shaped. Women and men of all ages have the extra hair around their eyes removed.

There are different methods to shape eyebrows. Threading is becoming an increasingly popular option.

How does threading work?

A length of 100 percent cotton thread is rolled back and forth along the brow line and this precisely targets single hairs. The twisting action of the thread traps the hairs and pulls them out whole from the root and this allows for a natural shape and beautiful definition.

What is the difference between threading and waxing? Benefits of threading?

Threading is an ancient Indian method of hair removal that's a great alternative to waxing -- especially for those desiring a more natural and defined shape. Threading is very accurate and can be done in as little as 20 minutes. It's a better option for sensitive skin and has long lasting effects of up to 3 weeks.

How to choose the best eyebrow shape for you?

There are 6 basic face shapes to create the perfect eyebrow shape from:

1. An oval face accommodates a variety of brow shapes including round arch, long brow, thin brow or thick brow.

2. A long face should have thick and flat brows to make face appear more oval.

3. A heart shape should have soft, round brows to soften the pointed chin.

4. A round face needs a very high arch with short tail to give it a slimmer appearance.

5. A square face looks best with an angled brow that has a peak and then long tail. This takes attention away from a square jaw line.

6. A diamond face needs an angled brow with round peak. This will narrow the appearance of a diamond shaped face.

How to care for your brows? Top don'ts with your brows.

It is strongly recommended to have a professional do your eyebrows so they can determine what looks best for your face. If you have an emergency and have to do your brows at home, it is suggested to follow these tips:

Do use brow makeup to fill in brows for a fuller appearance.

Don't pluck your brows if possible. It rips out the hair follicle and can lead to permanent damage and unsightly regrowth.

If you NEED to pluck, don't overdo it. Only remove stray hairs and hold off on any serious shaping for the next time you visit a professional.

Top Trends in Eyebrows:

Thick, long and arched eyebrows is the most requested look. The trend used to be for very thin eyebrows but that has changed and people want a fuller look. Very thick brows don't suit everyone's face, consider your facial features and if thick, long eyebrows will work for your face shape.
