Calling all Calgary Entrepreneurs!

There's a big event happening in a couple weeks and you're all invited. On Thursday, October 18th, CALGARY+acumen and Startup Calgary are hosting DIGNITY. The evening is a celebration of social enterprise and bringing together all the players in our community for a night of food, photography and making connections. Meet local social entrepreneurs, partake in the silent and live auction (all funds go to investments that tackle poverty!).

Great photography. Great ideas. Great Connections. Definitely not a night to miss!

How to Turn "Good" into a Competitive Advantage

Time: 5:00 - 7:00 PM

Location: Assembly co-work space, 119 14th street NW

The night kicks-off with an exclusive event just for entrepreneurs at Assembly co-working space. Calgary-based DIRTT Environmental Solutions will share their insights on how you can turn "good" business practices into a competitive advantage. DIRTT has been lauded as a "Rockstar of the New Economy" by Fast Co. for its ability to achieve high growth and high social and environmental impact. The company is radically modernizing the multi-billion dollar construction industry and has more than doubled revenues since 2007 - reaching more than $115 million in 2011 - while recycling over 7 million pounds of manufacturing waste. All the while they're maintaining excellent employee programs, a sustainable supply chain and drastically diminishing the carbon footprint of their transportation.

Entrepreneurs attending the event will learn ways in which they can build 'good' into their business from Day 1. They will learn a practical framework for decision-making and will hear some of the stories DIRTT has to share. For entrepreneurs who are curious about how to incorporate sustainable and socially responsible practices into their business and why it truly matters, this is one event you don't want to miss.

DIGNITY 2012

Location: The Simmons Building in the East Village, 618 Confluence Way SE

After this event, entrepreneurs will join in the main attraction: DIGNITY 2012 at the Simmons Building in the East Village. The event will celebrate the use of entrepreneurship to solve many of the most pressing social issues of our time. Attendees will have the chance to interact with social entrepreneurs and impact investors, a group that shares very similar values to those held by the traditional entrepreneur community. Moreover, they'll have the chance to partake in a live and silent photo auction, enjoy free food, and have a beer from our friends at Village Brewery and wine from our friends at Vine Arts.

Oh, did I mention the best part? Your $35 ticket is actually a donation that goes to investments in businesses that tackle poverty. It goes directly to Acumen Fund and helps meet their goal of raising $10,000.

Tickets can be purchased at Eventbrite here: http://dignitycalgary2012.eventbrite.com/. Please note that the tickets for the entrepreneurs-only event are very limited and are moving quickly, be sure to buy your ticket soon to guarantee a spot!
