Canada was rated the best country brand in a study by branding agency FutureBrand.

Shove over Switzerland. Out of our way U.S.A. For the second year in a row, Canada has been named the top country brand for travellers according to branding and design agency FutureBrand.

The agency interviewed more than 3,000 travellers and asked them about their perceptions of a country when planning their travels.

"Canada's continued rating at the top of FutureBrand's Country Brand Index is a testament to our country's global appeal. We have a wealth of compelling experiences for travellers, and our government is committed to sustaining this momentum by promoting Canada in innovative ways on the international stage," said Maxime Bernier, Minister of State for Small Business and Tourism, in a press release.

"In this period of global economic turbulence, by showing the world that Canada is a dynamic, modern and cosmopolitan society, we’re not just inviting the world to visit us, we’re capitalizing on our positive reputation to open new doors and create new opportunities," says Michele McKenzie, CEO of the Canadian Tourism Commission.

Canada beat out Switzerland, which rose to second spot, Japan, Australia and the U.S.A. according to the Toronto Star.

Future Brand released their report on Thursday at the World Travel Market in London, England, a tradeshow for the tourism industry.

Hey, come on, it's a very scenic, clean (mostly) and polite (again, mostly) tourist friendly place with a wonderful facade of universality and social supports, However, as the Devil said to the burining tourist who subsequently abandoned Heaven to live with his condemned friend in "H", Never confuse tourism with immigration.

Natch. Even without our cosmopolitan cities, we do have most of the world's fresh water. Why do you think the Americans are so adamant about defending their northern neighbours? They will never allow another country to invade Canada and lay claim to our water. Or our oil. Or our timber. But mostly the water.

Not surprising. They come here to shop for houses, our land, our resources, our water, and our benefits.

Canada â„¢.

And now that it is Harper's Government, I guess we will have to start paying him royalties to use Canadian â„¢ Government services.

Welcome to the world of corporate countries. But of course, the same people who craft the images of countries say we should all develop our own personal brand to shape the public's perception of ourselves, because after all, isn't a good image more important than reality in this modern world?
