Quick Study [kwik stuhd-ee]: The Huffington Post Canada's tips to make your life a little sweeter, five minutes at a time. Think of it as a cheatsheet for your general well-being.

For the next 30 days, we're checking out how to take a break from your busy holiday schedule and relax -- in unexpected ways.

THE EXPERT:

The Huffington Post Canada talked to Ottawa-based makeup artist Sarah Cogliati about how to spice up your holiday look.

HuffPost: How do you suggest taking a break from the stresses of the holidays?

Sarah Cogliati: Sometimes a small change in our makeup routine can rejuvenate us and make us feel great. While out shopping, try picking up a great lipstick, new mascara or eyeshadow palette this holiday season. If you're looking for more "pop" in your Christmas Eve or New Year's Eve look, try adding false lashes. False lashes come in all sorts of shapes and sizes or even in individual hair options for a more natural look. If you aren't sure how to apply them, there are lots of video tutorials out there that can help you, like this one.

BLOGGER BRILLIANCE:

Stylist.com's Dana Oliver has a DIY project that involves black nail polish and gold studs to emulate one of the season's hottest trends.

Samantha of The Nailasaurus admits on her blog that she's "not a very fashion conscious person." But after a Google search of the term "fashion," she stumbled upon a simple studded sheath by American designer Michael Kors -- the inspiration behind these badass nails. "This dress is so classic, yet the studs give it that rock-chick rebel vibe. I love it!" Samantha writes. Check out the rest of the post.
