Gordon Ramsay now has a new reason to have a tantrum: Montreal's Laurier BBQ restaurant has taken its leave of the celebrity chef's services after only six months of collaboration.

"We wish Gordon all the best, but he's a big star and too busy to come to the restaurant," owner Danny Lavy explained on Wednesday to the Montreal Gazette.

Ramsay's first venture in Canada, the classic rotisserie restaurant -- originally known as Rotisserie Laurier BBQ -- was renamed Laurier Gordon Ramsay when it opened in 2011. The 75-year-old space had been given a massive renovation (though it wasn't without its problems). But for Lavy, having Ramsay's name on board just wasn't working anymore.

“This is a local restaurant with a lot of heritage," Lavy told The Telegraph. "We want to respect the clientele and deliver what they want when they come here. We got to the point of not being on the same page and having someone taking a direction we didn’t want to take. [Ramsay] didn’t understand what was important to us.”

This isn't the first time the Scottish chef, who is based In London, has run into trouble with one of his enterprises. He ended a consultancy with Verre in Dubai in late 2011, and closed the Melbourne outposts of his Maze and Maze Grill spaces early the same year.

This Friday marks the end of Laurier's contract with Ramsay -- all signage and promotional materials that include his name will be removed.

According to a statement issued by Jo Livingston, a spokesperson for Ramsay at Freud Communications, "We are surprised and saddened by Mr. Lavy's comments. Gordon and his team have provided significant support to all levels of the business above and beyond what was required by the agreement, and we are rightfully proud to have contributed to its success to date ... Gordon would like to thank all the citizens of Montreal for their overwhelming support and he hasn’t ruled out a possible return to the city in the future."

It's no surprise Ramsay in busy -- check out all the restaurants he owns around the world:

The restaurant made the right decision. They will do better without him.

Maybe it would have been a better financial decision to have been a a segment of Kitchen Nightmares rather than the embarrassement of Laurier Gordon Ramsay, says this Montrealer

The headline on the main page, "Gordon Ramsay Severs Ties With Montreal Restaurant", is very misleading. It should read "Montreal Restauran Severs Ties With Gordon Ramsay". That's what happened, don't try to twist the headline.

He is too busy making US versions of UK cooking shows that are a pale comparison to the original.

Masterchef here is a joke... they dont try everyones food, they only eat what looks good, but on the UK version, they eat everyones, regardless of how bad it looks on a plate... its only fair since people put the effort into making something.

He needs to go back to England and do what he does best there.. here, he has become a cartoon of himself.. a parody of what he was known for instead of actually cooking.

I agree. The Americanization of Ramsay is tragic, but if not for Hell's Kitchen, I never would have learned about Gordon in the first place.

I liked the UK version of Kitchen Nightmares. The US version is not bad, but not nearly as varied.
