You're late for work and didn't have time to put your face together. So you glance in your car's rearview mirror -- or use the bus doors as a wall for support -- and somehow manage to apply lipstick during your commute. If this sounds familiar, you're not alone.

Women in their 30s are more likely to indulge in morning makeup on the go, while those who are in their 20s prefer applying makeup in the evening -- this according to a recent study conducted by British department store Debenhams.

The study also found 89 per cent of women touch-up their look on transit, and lipstick is the most applied product during a commute. The trickiest thing to do in a rush? Only 33 per cent of women are brave enough to apply eyeliner on the go.

If you're in a rush and looking for ways to pull yourself together in the morning, here are some tips to consider.

Don't expect to find space or even the time to give yourself a full pedicure or manicure on the train. If you're in rush, use compact powders, cream-based blushes and lipstick to avoid spills.

It's not 'brave' to use an eyelash curler on a bus or in a car - it's stupid! I've seen women drivers putting on mascara while driving, and sat next to women using smelly nail polish in the confined space of an airline economy seat. Distracted driving is a major cause of accidents - and yet people eat, talk, put on makeup and even read the paper while driving. I actually saw a woman who was talking on her hand-held phone, and eating fried chicken while driving - with her elbows! The Darwin Awards were made to celebrate people like her, but unfortunately she could take out innocent people when she drives off a cliff.

NO. NO.NO. It is never right to put on makeup on the train or any form of public transit. It is tacky. It is uncouth. It is classless.
