Christy Clark's new press handler Sarah MacIntyre got in a heated exchange with journalists Wednesday after she told them B.C.'s premier wouldn't be answering any questions.

MacIntyre, who recently moved West after serving as Stephen Harper's press secretary, seems to be taking a page out of the playbook she learned while working for the prime minister.

And that fact certainly didn't escape the reporter who was irritated by the refusal to take questions. "Maybe that’s the way the Prime Minister’s Office used to handle it, but this is not the Prime Minister’s Office out of Eastern Canada, this is B.C.," he said.

CTV's Robert Fife says the stance MacIntyre took is similar to that adopted by the federal Tories. "The exchange brought back all the memories of what we go through every day with the Harper government: tight media control, lack of respect for the media. She's taken the Harper media plan and brought it to B.C.," he said.

That may be exactly what Christy Clark wants.

B.C.'s Liberal premier also recently hired staunch Tory Ken Boessenkool as her chief of staff. Boessenkool once served as a Harper adviser and has said he "came out of the womb right wing."

Her hires aren't the only sign Clark is cozying to Harper and his strategies. Earlier this year, the premier made headlines after being photographed at a her son's hockey game with the prime minister, Tim Horton's coffee cups clearly visible.

The pro-Harper strategy seems aimed at preventing a split of the centre-right vote with the B.C. conservatives in the next election, which could allow the NDP to win power, according to The Globe and Mail.

Only time will tell if the strategies which won the Conservatives their first majority government in more than 20 years will help Christy Clark and the Liberals stay on top in B.C.

These reporters were not being very professional. So she's trying to dodge questions, what else is new this is politics. Also the fact that one of the reporters began to criticize Sara MacIntyre for being from Eastern Canada is appalling. I am a Journalism student and in my opinion it's people like this that lower journalistic standards for the rest of us. PS I am not a Conservative

Who is Sara MacIntyre? Premier Christy Clark's new press handler - formerly of PMO and Taxpayers Federation. Turns out she's no mere PR flak.

I was disgusted by this woman and her republican tactics when she was working for the conservatives but I expected no better from the lowlife cons.
I am even more disgusted that a Liberal is using them because as a Liberal I always expect more from them. Although the federal and provincial parties are two different things there is always an expectation that the two parties have the same or similar values.
This Clark sounds like quite the piece of work and none too liberal. My only advice to BC Liberals is dump this con wannabe and get your party back to being Liberal.

I guess I am in the minority, here, as I think the media jerks should just back off a bit. Why should the Premier's whole world stop for them. They were told she wasn't taking questions - seems pretty simple to me.

As a 'public' official, the premier has a duty to answer questions and it is the press' duty to ask.

If Clarke doesn't want to take questions she should not have taken the job.
That seems pretty simple to me.

Good for her getting work after her face stroke, I noticed one part of her mouth droops down. Maybe that's why she chews gum like her life depends on it, to deflect attention away from it?

Anyhoo, if anyone deserves a pie in the face, it's this woman. This Harper bulldog is a real piece of work, chewing her gum like a maniac... UGGGGG!

The Harper disease has spread to BC. I remain confident, however, that Canadians are beginning to realize that their wonderful country is under increasing threat from an alien political force masquerading as "Conservatives" that really belongs in Texas.

As for BC Premier Christy Clark, she is living proof of the Peter Principle. It is astounding and shocking that the Liberals picked her as their "leader." In fact, she is utterly unqualified for the position, totally out of her depth. Talk about sending in a girl to do a woman's work!!!

The day that Canadian politicians started to need "handlers" was a grim day for Canadians.

The sad fact is that our politicians now allow themselves to be "handled" as if they were dogs or some sort of wild animal.

People used to accuse politicians of being weasels - it seems they have now taken this to heart.

In the Globe they quote Preston Manning as calling Clark the new Iron Lady. No doubt part of a campaign to try to "save" the BC Liberals from the electorate. However the true comparison is not Margaret Thatcher (who at least had principles whether you agreed with them or not) but Mitt Romney who, like Clark, has no principles and will say whatever he thinks will help his electoral chances. Here, her political masters have brought in one of Harper's pit bulls because they do not even trust Clark to say the right thing.
The whole thing is predicated on a belief that the BC electorate is incredibly stupid. While they may not be the brightest bunch, they are not as stupid as the Conservatives/BC Liberals think they are.
