Stephen Harper has a new fan in The Dictator's Admiral General Aladeen.

Comedian Sacha Baron Cohen, jokingly portraying Admiral General Aladeen of the Republic of Wadiya, appears in a teaser from George Stroumboulopoulos Tonight to discuss Canada’s government, free press and Stephen Harper.

“If there was ever an argument against democracy, it is Stephen Harper," he said. "I commend your leaders on silencing your media. For the last 10 years, I have not even heard a single noteworthy event happening in Canada.”

His comments came after Harper received the Code Of Silence Award from the Canadian Association of Journalists, Canada.com noted. The Association singled Harper out over a lack of information regarding the F-35 program and avoiding media questions, Canadian Press reported.

The comic also had some harsh words for Harper's hair in the Stroumboulopoulos interview.

“You know he has his wigs made in Wadiya,” the admiral said.

This latest publicity comes on the heels of the film's London premiere, where the character made scandalous remarks about the royal family.

The full interview will air on May 15 on CBC's George Stroumboulopoulos Tonight and The Dictator hits theatres May 16.

Cherry picking a fake satirical Dictator's comments is silly.Blame Canadian voters if you don't like Harper, that is, unless you think he rigged the election.

The birth of a banana republic

Under Prime Minister Stephen Harper's Conservatives, committees have become highly polarized and hyper-partisan. Shockingly for a democracy, they now operate mostly in secret, away from the electorate's prying eyes.

A secret democracy isn't a democracy.

It doesn’t take long for a healthy democracy to shift into an autocratic state, with a strong centralized power passing laws in the interest of a very narrow group of people, leaving the majority to accept the new reality or face persecution for speaking out against the abuses of power.

Thankfully, Canada is still a democracy and up until recently, I would have characterized our country as having a healthy democracy.

But this is quickly changing.

Our prime minister, even though he is the head of a minority government, has used every lever of power at his disposal to centralize his power, silence his detractors, and render the Parliamentary process ineffective.

Why Canada can't afford Stephen Harper

It’s a good time to debunk the biggest Stephen Harper myth there is: “We are good economic managers”. Repeating a lie does not make it true.

We need to spend $15 billion on jails because unreported crimes are rising? Don't believe them. We need to stop the long-form census, because the census-takers are going to send you to jail? Don't believe them. We need to kill the long-gun registry, because the police are leading a cult conspiracy to take away everybody's guns? Don't believe them. We awarding a $19 billion untendered contract for new jets because the Russians are coming? Don't believe them. This is a government that is counting on fear, driven by lies, to earn the votes it needs to win again.

Our media is very compliant and for the most part serves the instruments of the elite; even the Huffington Post. Look at how many "contributors" serve the neocon, anti-choice and pro war agenda. Danielle Crittendon is the wife of pro-war lunatic David Frum and also the daughter of right wing war monger Peter Worthington. If you think the Huff Post Canada is not a conservative vehicle for re-branding the most vulgar right wing theories into a more palatable gruel then you're being fooled.

--“You know he has his wigs made in Wadiya--

How dare this man mock our "coiffed" haired PM.

Didn't he see Harpo walking barefoot along that beach somewhere in South America recently with his legs rolled up and wearing a white dress shirt.

There was hardly 1 hair out of place which proves he plasters his hair with "dippity-do" styling gel before going outside in the wind and does not have a wig.

Other than that, every other observation thing put forth by his foreigner is absolutely bang on!

Yes, because we don't see or hear anything critical in the media about Harper and the Conservatives.
The press is scared to death of running any story critical of Harper.
If you don't believe me, read the Toronto Star or watch the CBC.
