Tuxedo Stan, Cat Running For Halifax Mayor, Gets Endorsement From CNN's Anderson Cooper

Feline Mayoral Candidate Gets Huge Endorsement

Tuxedo Stan, the cat 'running' for mayor of Halifax, picked up an endorsement that would make some of his human rivals jealous, CNN's Anderson Cooper.

Cooper, the host of CNN's AC360 endorsed Stan on Monday night. "We usually don't take sides politically, but I think we'll go ahead an make an unofficial endorsement for one candidate for mayor of Halifax. His name is Tuxedo Stan," Cooper said on a segment called the Ridiculist.

CBC points out that Stan can't actually run for mayor because he requires a human birth certificate (cue conspiracy theorists).

His owner is pushing the cat into politics to raise awareness of the stray cat problem in the east coast city. Stan's Facebook page now has more than 6,600 likes. Stan's rival and real-life candidate for Halifax Mayor, Mike Savage, only has 329 likes.

The CNN endorsement isn't Stan's only brush with fame. The cat will be appearing on a This Hour Has 22 Minutes segment.
