There is something so playful and cheerful about the classic polka dot. These spots are everywhere lately, from Kate Spade New York’s latest campaign, “Art Of The Dot” to J.Crew’s catalogues. I love that a classic can be remixed into the current trends like coloured jeans, Peter Pan necklines, blocking, and even grown up clothing like cocktail dresses and ladylike accessories.

Here are a couple of quick tips on how to style your dots:

• I love a striped tee tucked in to a polka dot skirt for some pattern play. A simple t-shirt juxtaposed with an ultra-feminine dotted skirt makes for an unlikely combination that is super sweet when put together. The stripes and spots will look show stopping in graphic black and white.
• You can’t go wrong with a colorful polka dot sweater paired with this summer's bright denim for effortless colour blocking. It’s a great way to transition into the fall with this summer staple.
