Mercer's wrath was triggered by a story from The Canadian Press (CP) which revealed the government approved $16 million for action plan ads in the first quarter of 2012.
"Well, suddenly every TV show broadcast in Canada is brought to you by Canada's economic action plan. Which is strange because it's over. It's done," Mercer said. "Deep in their hearts, they think we're very stupid. They think we won't care that they're cutting prison chaplains, and meat inspection and scientists because this week's episode of 'Glee' or 'Honey Boo Boo' is brought to you by Canada's action plan."

The CP investigation also discovered the government has badly underestimated its advertising costs, by 37 per cent in their first five years in office.
Several new ads now airing on Canadian TV tout the government's record on the environment. You can see those commercials in the slideshow below.
Mercer has also done some work with Canada's natural resources. He recently donated a wooden penis that looks like Stephen Harper to the Calgary Sexual Health Centre for auction.
