Drunk Purple Scooter Driver Caught In Abbotsford

Purple, Drunk, Scooter Driver Caught
Abbotsford Police

Is it Barney? Is it a Flying Purple People Eater? Nah, it was just a drunk lady, painted purple, who was weaving her electric scooter in downtown Abbotsford this week.

The woman, 34, rode past a police traffic stop not once, but twice on Wednesday afternoon. She caught their attention on the second pass because she seemed confused and her driving was wobbly, reported the Abbotsford Times.

It wasn't because she was painted purple from head to toe that she was stopped, Const. Ian MacDonald told the newspaper.

"We are not purple profiling," MacDonald said. He tweeted this warning on Thursday:

The woman was so drunk she couldn't walk or talk properly, he said. She was given a 24-hour suspension, and a $168 fine and taken to a cell to sober up.

It's a mystery why the woman painted herself purple, and if perhaps it was part of a Halloween costume.

“I still don’t know whether the purple came first or the alcohol came first,” MacDonald told Metro Vancouver.
