Word leaked last month that liberal icons Martin Sheen, Woody Harrelson and Ed Asner are tied to the upcoming "truther" film September Morn, described as a 12 Angry Men-style look at the events of 9/11.

"That’s a bit premature. I read the script and talked to the director, but it’s not a fait accompli,"Sheen told The Huffington Post Canada during a recent interview in Calgary. "[September Morn is] a very interesting examination of the 9/11 Commission’s report, and it really challenges a lot of their findings as being very, very less than complete."

September Morn, produced by the same studio behind the Oklahoma City bombing doc A Noble Lie, was initially revealed in an exclusive post on Deadline.com which was later pulled down. But don’t fire up your conspiracy engines just yet, as that was most likely because the film is still so up in the air.

"There’s a possibility I may be doing it," Sheen said, adding, "I don’t know if Woody’s going to be doing that or not, because they really jumped the gun — and they did it because the [American] Film Market was in L.A. and they were wanting to get some backing. It’s a very low-budget independent film."

9/11 remains such a raw topic for Americans that the mere possibility of a "truther" film sent the media into overdrive, with widespread coverage from The Guardian to Daily Beast’s David Frum, who wrote: "When actors wonder why nobody listens to them on politics, this is why."

Sheen’s potential co-stars, Asner and Harrelson, have both questioned the events of 9/11. Asner, who has argued that "no high-rise has ever gone down by fire," taped a message for the International 9-11 Citizens Inquiry in Toronto in 2004 demanding a new investigation. He also narrated the documentary The Oil Factor: Behind the War on Terror. Harrelson, while less outspoken, did sign the Actors and Artists for 9/11 Truth petition.

Sheen, who considers himself as much an activist as an actor, said he is interested in the role because he also has questions about what happened that morning, much like his son, Charlie Sheen, who has regularly discussed his opinions about a 9/11 cover-up over the years.

"He got me interested," the elder Sheen acknowledged. "There are obviously a lot of unanswered questions, let me leave it that way, that are very, very disturbing. The key to that is Building 7 and how that came down under very, very suspicious circumstances."
