Condolences are pouring into the Surrey RCMP over the death of Const. Adrian Oliver, 28, whose twin brother and father are also Mounties.

Oliver died Tuesday from injuries he suffered when his unmarked police car was struck by a semi at a Surrey, B.C. intersection, said an RCMP news release. The incident is under investigation.

Oliver, who has been a Mountie for more than three years, has a twin brother who is also an RCMP officer in the Lower Mainland. Their stepfather, Chief Supt. Joe Oliver, is currently the force’s director-general of border integrity based in Ottawa.

Before joining the force, Oliver and his twin modelled for high-profile campaigns in Athens, New York and L.A.

  • Condolences have been pouring into the Surrey RCMP detachment where Const. Adrian Oliver was based.

On Wednesday, Chief Supt. Bill Fordy of the Surrey RCMP expressed his gratitude for the “immense outpouring of support being shown by all levels of government and citizens from all walks of life.”

He said the Oliver family is being comforted by the love and support they’re receiving from coast to coast.

Canadians have been adding their messages to an online condolences page set up by the B.C. RCMP.

"Thank you for bringing up a son who offered of his own free will to protect myself and my family, taking his own life in his hands every day to serve us," wrote Larry Steiner of Coquitlam.

"Thank you especially to Cst. Olivers's father and brother, who continue to be a part of 'the thin blue line' that lets us enjoy freedom in the best country in the world."

"Please know how deeply deeply sorry I am to hear of the loss of your dear son and brother. There are no words. No words," wrote Madonna Mercer of the RCMP’s B Division in Newfoundland and Labrador.

Funeral arrangements for Oliver will be released later.

His death was the first on-duty fatality for the Surrey detachment since 1975.
