We're not surprised that Dalhousie University's 'puppy room' was a hit.

The Dalhousie Student Union's 'puppy room' became a huge viral sensation last week, and caused a lot of people to ponder why they couldn't have a dog room in their workplace or campus.

So how did they do at Dal? According to the university, in just one day more than 500 students took time out of their busy end-of-term schedules to cuddle and spend time with the three adorable dogs brought to campus by Therapeutic Paws Of Canada.

The dogs also do more than help stressed out students. "A lot of our teams, they visit at least two different facilities, and a lot of them are involved in the Paws to Read, which is in eight different libraries . . . we get requests for daycares, going into schools, seniors communities and more,” Don LeBlanc, the Halifax team leader with Therapeutic Paws Of Canada, told the Dal News.

The Dal student union even created a back-up plan and shuttled students to a nearby SPCA shelter so they could spend time with animals there.

And the CBC also rounded up many adorable images of students relaxing with the adorable dogs earlier this week. There's also this video of the dogs in action shot by journalism students Paula Sanderson and Ken Wallingford.

They're not puppies but they're still cuddly from kate thousand on Vimeo.
