Anne Applebaum Looks Inside Putin's Russia In Calgary Talk

Pulitzer Prize winning author Anne Applebaum was in Calgary Monday to take a look inside Vladimir Putin's Russia.

Her talk was part of the Teatro Speakers Series, organized by Rudyard Griffiths and Patrick Luciani.

Applebaum's has written a number of books on Russian history, including her latest "Iron Curtain: The Crushing of Eastern Europe."

She discussed Russia's Soviet past, but focused primarily on life under the Putin government today. She also answered a question from HuffPost reader Ryan Doherty on whether U.S. President Barack Obama's reelection will alter his relationship with Putin.
