LONGVIEW, Alta. - RCMP say extremely high winds have caused four semis to roll over on a highway in southwestern Alberta.

Emergency personnel from the Crowsnest Pass are at the scene south of Longview on Highway 22.

RCMP say the wind is even making it hard for officers to investigate the carnage created by the high-gusting winds.

"Winds are very excessive in the area," said Const. Tom Christie.

"RCMP members are having difficulty standing on the road to investigate and assist because of the wind.

"So far there have been only minor injuries to vehicle occupants."

"Southern Alberta - WIND WARNING for Crowsnest Pass, Pincher Creek, Waterton Lakes, gusts 100+km/h possible: http://bit.ly/ZbkVkW #abstorm," said @daynavettese.

Environment Canada is warning that wind gusts exceeding 100 kilometres an hour are possible in the area.

Truck drivers are being urged to stop until the winds calm down.
