Defence Minister Peter Mackay and his wife, human right activist Nazanin Afshin-Jam, are expecting a baby boy, Nova Scotia's The News reports.
MacKay said he's thrilled and, most importantly, happy the baby is healthy.
"I've got all I want for Christmas," he told The News.
The high-profile couple announced the pregnancy in September. The boy, expected this March, will be the couple's first child.
No word yet on whether the couple has decided on a name.
MacKay's surprise wedding early this year grabbed headlines nationwide, not only because the minister had been considered one of the country's most-eligible bachelors, but also because of his wife's impressive credentials.
With such accomplished parents, the child will certainly have a bright future ahead of him.
