Foreskin Protesters To Greet Oprah

Oprah Winfrey is in Vancouver and the town is abuzz with the talk show legend's arrival, including plans for a protest by pro-foreskin activists.

Winfrey will take the stage at Rogers Arena on Thursday at 7 p.m. for "An Evening with Oprah."

Last-minute ticket buyers may be scrambling as tickets are no longer available through Ticketmaster's website. Listings on sites like eBay and Craigslist are offering single stadium seats for as high as $330.

Many local businesses have high hopes for Winfrey's Vancouver stopover.

Vancouver company, Lunapads, is also hoping that Winfrey's appearance will boost their campaign to provide feminine hygiene products to help keep African girls in school.

But not everyone is excited to greet Winfrey.

Glen Callender of the Canadian Foreskin Awareness Project has called for a protest outside the show. The Vancouver resident wants to draw attention to Winfrey's past endorsement of a luxury skin cream made from skin cells extracted from donated foreskin tissue.

"It's an equal rights issue," Callender told The Huffington Post B.C. on Wednesday. He says he wants to elevate public knowledge of the irony of Winfrey's endorsement of the contentious cream, in contrast to her advocacy work to stop female genital mutilation.

Winfrey spoke in Calgary on Tuesday night, sharing stories from her life to inspire a sold-out crowd. Previous to that, Winfrey was in chilly Edmonton where she tweeted her disappointment that her hotel didn't carry her network OWN.

Hundreds have already flocked to Twitter to give Winfrey a warm Vancouver welcome.
