Victoria police are looking for a driver who hit a quadriplegic man at a marked crosswalk, then drove away without offering any help.
The victim was crossing at Douglas and Fort Streets on Wednesday afternoon in a motorized wheelchair when a blue vehicle that was turning left struck him, said a news release on Thursday.
The driver then backed up his vehicle, drove around the victim and fled, said police.
Several passersby stopped to help the victim but no one got a licence plate number. The only detail is that the vehicle was blue.
The victim suffered a broken arm.
Victoria police will be looking for video surveillance from nearby businesses on Thursday, said Const. Michael Russell.
