What goes through the minds of some celebrities when they're getting ready for an awards show red carpet?
Sure the Grammys is the one event where A-listers can throw caution to the wind and be a bit more fashionably risque than usual. But there's a fine line between trying a trend and setting yourself up to be a red carpet failure.
Which is what happened to many well-meaning stars on Sunday night at the 55th annual Grammy Awards.
From J.Lo to Adele too many celebs donned sartorially confounding looks.
While we know our opinions are, well, our own, we're pretty sure you'll agree with us on at least one or two of these style pans.

Florence Welch In Givenchy
Nice job wearing this year's "it" colour (emerald green), but what is with the sheen and the shine!? No. Just. No.
Lisa D'Amato
What. The. Heck!? You're at the Grammys... Not the circus.
Jennifer Lopez
We get it, you have great legs J.Lo, but this look is a little too much. You've worn this look way too many times before. And why does your face look so tight!?
Kimbra
This dress doesn't deserve explanation. It's. That. Bad.
Ashley Keating
Too short. Too much sparkle. Too much eye glitter. There's a whole lot of bad happening here.
Joan Osborne
The one thing you don't want to emulate at an awards show is a banana.
SWV
Maybe they wanted to look like the American flag?
Adele
Oh Adele, you could do so much better than this. You're too beautiful to look like a tablecloth.
Justin Timberlake in Tom Ford
Shoe fail.
Esperanza Spalding
Pattern gone all wrong. With chunky black shoes to boot. Why!?
Janelle Monae
We respect the outfit choice -- a suit with a sultry Spanish flair, but we're not sure it's the best outfit for her (it seems like it's a bit too tight). Kudos for the effort though.
