Arcade Fire, Grimes, Drake and Metz are some of the nominees for the inaugural Prism Prize honoring the top Canadian music video of the year based on originality, creativity, style, innovation and effective execution.
The top ten list includes videos for Drake's "HYFR," Arcade Fire's "Sprawl II," Mother Mother's "The Sticks" and Metz's "Wet Blanket." Leading the nominees is Grimes with two videos: one for "Oblivion" and the other "Genesis," the latter she directed herself. Rounding out the nominees are Rich Aucoin's "Brian Wilson Is A.L.I.V.E.," Maylee Todd's "Baby's Got It," Young Rival's "Two Reasons" and Yamantaka // Sonic Titan's "Hoshi Neko."
The prize, whose winner will be announced on March 24 and receives a $5,000 prize, is decided by a jury panel of music journalists, critics, bloggers, historians and experts. The qualifying period for the 2013 prize was from Jan. 1 to Dec. 31 of last year. The winner will be announced during Canadian Music Week next month in Toronto.
