A Canadian bombshell has taken home Sports Illustrated’s 2013 “Swimsuit Rookie of the Year” award.

Kate Bock, 21, of West Vancouver, B.C. won 41 per cent of overall ballots cast by voters on Sports Illustrated’s website.

“Happiest rookie there ever was!!” tweeted Bock just after her win on Thursday.

The West Vancouver Secondary School graduate was flown to Chile, dressed in tiny, colourful bikinis and hopped around Easter Island for the magazine’s annual swimsuit edition photo shoot.

The win adds to a string of successes the 5’11” model has tasted in the past year. In 2012, Bock landed high exposure modelling contracts, appearing in campaigns for Victoria’s Secret and Perry Ellis.

The gorgeous blonde beat models Hannah Davis, Natasha Barnard and Emily DiDonato, who also appeared in this year’s Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue.

It's already been a good year for B.C. models. Vancouver's Ashley Diana Morris was named as the new face of Guess Lingerie and Bikini in January.

This week, Vancouver's Ania Korkh, a Kate Upton lookalike, became a viral star after tweeting a photo of herself imitating the supermodel's Sports Illustrated Swimsuit cover. The Capilano University student and gymnastics coach isn't a professional model but has reportedly landed an agent after all the international attention.
