Two polls show the B.C. NDP would win an election if it was held today, but the results suggest different kinds of leads for the party ahead of the B.C. Liberals.
The Opposition NDP have increased their lead with 51 per cent support -- an increase of three per cent since November -- versus 32 per cent for the ruling Liberals, a drop of three per cent, according to an Ipsos Reid poll commissioned by Global News/BC1 and released on Thursday.
The B.C. Conservatives come in at nine per cent and the Green Party of B.C. at seven per cent.
The NDP's Adrian Dix was named as the leader who would make the best premier by 37 per cent of respondents, while Liberal Leader Christy Clark trailed at 23 per cent. B.C. Conservative head John Cummins garnered eight per cent, while Greens Leader Jane Sterk registered four per cent.
However, more voters want to have dinner with Clark (31 per cent) than with Dix (19 per cent), found the survey.
The poll was taken March 8-12 with a sample size of 1,000 and margin of error +/- 3.1 per cent.
Another poll revealed on Thursday shows the B.C. NDP with 38 per cent support compared to 33 per cent for the Liberals, according to Campaign Research.
The Greens and B.C. Tories both come in at 12 per cent.
The tracking poll was done on Tuesday with 1,112 households responding to a survey via phone keypads. A sample of this size has a margin of error of +/-2.9 per cent, 19 times out of 20, said the company.
