A backpack containing more than $1 million has led to the arrest of an Ontario man on a slew of charges.

Erwin Thomas Speckert, according to the Winnipeg Sun, was detained at a Winnipeg bus terminal on Feb. 27, 2012 after authorities were alerted to his cash-crammed bag.

A warrant was later issued for his arrest, Global News reports, and the 50-year-old turned himself in.

Speckert is charged with possession of proceeds of crime, trafficking in proceeds of crime, possession for the purpose of trafficking in proceeds of crime and laundering proceeds of crime. According to the Canadian Press, the cash is believed to be related to illegal gambling in Ontario.
