A run has been planned in Calgary to show solidarity with the running community, in wake of the Boston Marathon bombing on Monday.

The Run for Boston (Calgary) will be held on Saturday April 20 at Edworthy Park in the city. The event is organized by Trevor Hofbauer, a marathon runner himself.

"It doesn't matter if you run 1 km or 40 km, a run is a run and the whole idea behind this event is to show support for those who were effected on this day by being one as a running community," says the event's Facebook page.

As of Tuesday evening, over 200 people have said they will be attending the event.

"I will absolutely be there. Rain or shine," said Danny Jay on the event's Facebook page. Others inquired about purchasing Run for Boston shirts.

Though the event is about showing support, Hofbauer says he is talking to Red Cross about raising money, Metro Calgary reports.

Running Room stores across Canada will also hold a moment of silence on Wednesday before their club runs to show their support.

Two explosions rocked the finish line of the Boston Marathon on Monday, killing three and injuring dozens more.

President Barack Obama branded the attack an act of terrorism, whether carried out by a solo bomber or group, and the FBI vowed to "go to the ends of the Earth" to find out who did it.
