In a video, simply titled, Catastrophe Lac Mégantic, breathless eyewitness Adrien Aubert captures stunning images taken from the scene of the Lac-Megantic explosions last weekend.
Smoke billows over a scarlet sky, as Aubert, who later posted the clip to YouTube, stands on the narrow road leading to the community of about 6,000 people.
As he runs toward the hellish scene, another explosion rings out -- "Mon dieu!".
"Oh my God," Aubert says. "F**k. F**k. Everything is exploding, one by one.. The fire is getting huge."
There are, understandably, many loudly exclaimed obscenities in the nearly 11-minute video. And eventually the horrified cameraman , rather wisely, steps off the road.
Lac-Megantic , which lies about 250 km east of Montreal, was decimated Saturday after a train was left unattended. The tanker cars, carrying oil, exploded into balls of fire. At least 13 people have died and nearly 40 are still missing.
