It's that time of year again, when sweaty, desperately overheated urban dwellers fight traffic to make their way out of the city and enjoy some fleeting moments of relaxation in the country.
For those who can't afford their own home away from home, rentals are a good option. Decent cottages can be found around Ontario for as little as $800 a week, but of course you can pay much more for the ritzier places up for rent in cottage country — some places can run you in the tens of thousands per week.
So we've put together pics of some of the coolest, most tricked-out cottages for rent in Ontario this summer.
But before that, a few words of advice for those who want to rent a cottage:
— Only rent cottages that are advertised with clear and numerous pictures. You don't want to be disappointed by the place when you get there.
— If you have children, bring your own childproofing equipment. Don't count on the property being child-safe, even if the ad says it is.
— Ensure you have access to emergency services. Many cottages are out of cellphone range, and you don't want to be caught without a way to call 911 if something goes wrong.
— Inquire with the owner about drinking water. You may want to bring your own bottled water if you don't trust the local supply.
— Make sure you know what the cancellation policy is. You may be out a deposit, or the full cost of the rental, if you cancel too late.
And now, without further ado, here are the coolest, most tricked-out cottages for rent in Ontario this summer.
