One of the best parts of being a dad has got to be the unlimited licence to crack 'dad jokes.' And even royals aren't immune.
Prince William, Duke of Cambridge and brand-new father, was as proud as a papa could be when he and wife Kate presented their newborn royal baby boy to the world on Tuesday. And as the crowds cheered outside the Lindo Wing of St. Mary's Hospital in London where the Duchess had given birth, Will tried out some of his new 'Dad' material on the reporters anxious for a juicy quote.
On his newborn son's vocal capabilities: "He's got a good pair of lungs on him, that's for sure."
On the baby's arrival: "It's the first time we have seen him really so we are having a proper chance to catch up."
On his son's past-due delivery date (but how late? We're dying to know): "I'll remind him of his tardiness when he's a bit older. I know how long you've all been standing here so hopefully the hospital and you guys can all go back to normal now and we can go and look after him."
On the baby's cuteness: "He's got [Kate's] looks, thankfully." Kate played a good straight-man to his joker and replied, "No, no, I'm not sure about that."
It was clear the couple were in it together as they both took turns holding the still-unnamed newborn for the crowds. And just before Will brought out the car seat and strapped the baby into the SUV, which he was driving himself with Kate in the back, the couple told the crowds they'd already wrestled with the fundamental chore of changing diapers.
"He's done his first nappy already," Kate said.
Welcome to the new monarchy.
The royal baby is here! We have pics, naturally:
