On July 9th before a Chicago gig, Justin Bieber walked on the logo of the NHL's Chicago Blackhawks inside their dressing room. The gesture in sporting circles is equivalent to walking on or setting ablaze a country's flag.
But now some people have decided to have some fun by creating a series of "Stand On Bieber" photos, namely Blackhawks fans taking photos where they are stepping on Bieber's face. And according to Mashable, a Twitter account @StandOnBieber has been created for the phenomenon.
The site was created last weekend and is already closing in on 2,000 followers. The photos show fans standing on his face outside a fan convention, inside the team's locker room and with a Zamboni about to run over his head.
WGN reports that the trio behind the idea -- Chris Wilkerson, Mark Wegener and Josh Kaye -- brought an enlarged cutout of the pop idol's face, putting it in various areas around the convention floor.
The twitter account has gathered momentum with other NHL fans praising the idea. "I think fans from all teams should follow @StandOnBieber," one fan Talia tweeted, "As a Kings fan I am sick of seeing him at LA games, so payback! The account is GOLD!"
There's no word if Bieber fans are considering some semblance of revenge for the slight towards their hero. Bieber's tour continues tomorrow night at Brooklyn's Barclays Center.
