A U.S. kidnap suspect who may be headed to B.C. has been urged to turn himself in by the father of his alleged victims.
The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) issued an Amber Alert on Tuesday after James Lee DiMaggio allegedly abducted eight-year-old Ethan Anderson and 16-year-old Hannah Anderson from Boulevard, Calif.
News1130 reported on Tuesday that DiMaggio may be on his way to B.C. or Texas.
UPDATE: The Amber Alert issued for Ethan Anderson and Hannah Anderson has been expanded to Washington and Oregon, News1130 reported.
Brett Anderson, Ethan and Hannah's father, pleaded with DiMaggio to give himself up in a Tuesday news conference.
"Jim, I can't fathom what you were thinking," Anderson said, also pleading with his daughter to flee.
"Hannah, we all love you very much. If you have a chance, you take it. You run. You'll be found."
Anderson's wife Christina was found dead in DiMaggio's burned home on Sunday night. The remains of an eight-year-old child were also found in the home and Sheriff's Lt. Glenn Giannantonio admitted they could be Ethan's.
DiMaggio was reportedly friends with the Anderson family, close enough that the kids treated him like an uncle.
Marissa Chavez, a friend of Hannah's, said that once, while driving the two of them home from a gymnastics meet, DiMaggio told Hannah that he would date her if they were the same age.
Hannah was not comfortable with the comment, Chavez said.
DiMaggio is reportedly driving a blue Nissan Versa with the licence plate number 6WCU986. He is described as a white male with brown hair and brown eyes, 5'9" tall and weighing 150 pounds.
Hannah is described as a white woman with blonde hair, blue eyes, 5'7" tall and weighing 115 pounds. Ethan is described as a white male with sandy blonde hair, 4'11" tall and weighing 65 pounds.
