Edmonton police have charged a man in his 40s, in connection to an incident that left one man dead and another injured last week.
Police said Monday that Vincent Prentice, 47, had been arrested over the weekend, and was facing charges of second degree murder, aggravated assault, possession of an offensive weapon, possession of a narcotic and breach of recognizance.
EPS St. Sgt. Bill Clark said Prentice has a history of run-ins with police, and expressed frustrations with the legal system.
“I can see he’s charged with a number of serious offences, has a history with police, has a history with Corrections Canada, stuff you can all find out,” Clark said. “But when you’re charged with more offences and you’re continually in trouble, at what point do we finally say enough is enough and you’re kept in jail.”
The charge stemmed from an incident Thursday evening – police were called to a suite located near 128 Avenue and 65 Street at about 7:30 p.m. that night after gunshots were reported.
Police said officers arrived to find the body of a man – and later found a second, injured, man in a parking lot in the area of 128 Avenue and 66 Street.
