In-Demand Jobs In Alberta For 2014 Include Finance And Oil Industry Occupations

An ongoing boom in Alberta combined with a labour shortage means the province will see a rising demand for certain types of jobs this year.

There will be an increase in demand for five key occupations in 2014, including construction and engineering jobs, according to Collective Technical Recruitment, an Alberta-based recruitment firm.

"This year we're going to see a number of recruitment challenges in Alberta," says Trevor Mahl, senior executive recruiter with the firm.

"In particular, employers in the oilsands, construction and finance are going to have a tough time finding the right people for the right positions."

Here's a look at the jobs that will have an increase in demand this year:

1. Steam and Power Engineers
