Canada Has Its Own Batman In Brampton, And He's The Real Deal (VIDEO)

WATCH: Canada Has Its Own Batman, And He's The Real Deal

After years of anonymity, the Brampton Batman has come forward.

Stephen Lawrence, also known as The Dark Knight, has been patrolling the streets of Brampton, Ont., for years. Today, the 38-year-old man finally revealed his real name.

Lawrence, who works a manufacturing job from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m., leaves work each night to change into his Batman outfit. Then, in full costume, he patrols the streets of Brampton until approximately 3 a.m. The caped crusader does everything from small favours (he'll help you change a flat tire) to big deeds (he's rescued someone using CPR). But despite the joy and laughter he brings to the people of Brampton, Lawrence actually takes himself pretty seriously.

"I've always been The Dark Knight," Lawrence said. "The outfit is literally me, inside out."

After years of anonymity, Batman decided to reveal his true identity when he acquired his very own 'Batmobile,' which is actually a converted sedan he bought from entrepreneur Glenn McCullagh.

The Brampton Batman is frequently stopped in the streets, as when he was interviewed in the video above in June 2013. He insists that one of the favorite parts of his "hobby" is giving people a smile, talking to fans and taking pictures with people who get a kick out of his outfit.

Interestingly, Lawrence isn't the only Batman in Canada, although his Toronto counterpart insists he takes no issue with the Brampton Batman.
