Seems like Lena Dunham's friendship with Anna Wintour paid off because the "Girls" star just landed her first ever Vogue cover!
The photo, which was released Wednesday, shows the 27-year-old doing her best quirky model pose while wearing a red and white polka dot blouse, a smoky eye and a berry lip.
With her shaggy pixie hair styled into a messy chic 'do, Dunham looks effortlessly gorgeous, but there is one major problem we have with the cover: It's another close-up of an actress who isn't the typical (by Hollywood standards) size 2.
The Feb. 2014 issue comes just a week after the criticism against Elle magazine for using a close-up shot of actress Mindy Kaling, who was one of four actresses covering the glossy's Women in TV issue and who was the only cover subject whose body was cropped off.
Elle also got flak for putting actress Melissa McCarthy, who happens to be plus-size, on their cover wearing an oversized coat that hid her figure.
Other plus-size actresses have gotten the same treatment by fashion magazines including Adele, Gabourey Sidibe and Octavia Spencer.
But that doesn't mean that the 2014 Golden Globes red carpet stunner cares about how she looks. In an interview with V magazine, the director said:
"Meeting actresses who such a big part of their job is about what they look like, I feel so lucky to be freed from that prison. I ate cake for breakfast on the day of the Emmys I ate cake for dinner, my workout didn't require Spanx, and I still feel like I looked better than people expected me to. It was amazing. I could feel the envy of every woman in the Sunset Tower."
While we think this Vogue cover is well-deserved, we wish we could have seen a bit more of Lena's gorgeous figure. But hey, there's always the new season of "Girls" to check her out in all her glory!
