Your downward dog may just give you the giggles.
For the first time, New York-based yoga studio Bold Naked is now offering co-ed naked yoga for students. That's right, both men and women can stretch, bend and meditate with everything hanging out there in the open.
According to the studio's site, there's a sense of freedom doing yoga naked. This yoga class uses a flow of breath while going through different postures, both challenging and relaxing. And while this type of Vinyasa yoga is meant to connect the (naked) body and mind, studio owners emphasize that the class is not meant to be sexual in any way or form.
"Practicing yoga naked frees you from negative feelings about your body and allows you to be more accepting and deeper connected with yourself and the world around you," the studio's site says.
And because this is a co-ed class, the site also answers every awkward question you have, including what happens if you get an erection or orgasm during class (both are incredibly rare).
Owners Joschi Schwarz and Monika Werner told Toronto's music station KISS 92.5 that when you see others around you with flaws, you don't have to compare yourself to airbrushed supermodels and can feel comfortable in your own skin. And yes, if you were wondering, the back of the class tends to fill up first.
Canada has its own naked yoga (this one exclusively for men), with Alberta-based studio Edmonton Naked Yoga. Classes are meant to help yogis not only master their practice, but get over the parts of their body they may not like as well.
And naked or not, we all know the benefits of yoga include everything from carving out a lean and strong body to helping your mind stay focused and sharp.
