Tessa Virtue At 2014 Olympics: What To Know About The Ice Champion

Posted: Updated:

She may be the most famous Canadian female figure skater right now, as well as Canada's sweetheart, but 24-year-old Tessa Virtue isn't basking in the spotlight.

The Olympic gold medal winner told CTV News she and ice dancing partner Scott Moir spent last month in a sort of self-imposed media exile in the U.S. while they trained for this year's Sochi Olympics.

She's also notoriously tough on herself: she wasn't pleased with the pair's performance in the short dance at the Canadian Figure Skating Championships, even though they won gold. Let's hope she takes her discipline and talent to gold this time around, at what is expected to be her and Moir's final Games.

Check out some facts you might not know about Tessa Virtue in the slideshow below.
