The White House State Dinner is becoming almost as fashionable as the Oscars thanks to A-List attendees who have been stepping up their style game.

But no one could compare to the flawlessness that was Michelle Obama, who stunned in a showstopping powder blue and black lace ballgown by American designer Carolina Herrera on Tuesday night.

The First Lady and Barack Obama held court in their presidential duds as they greeted French President Hollande but we couldn't take our eyes off of the mom of two, who dazzled us with her large ornate earrings, her subtle but chic makeup and her cute flipped hairstyle.

The 50-year-old has been knocking it out of the park with her State Dinner outfits; take the teal Marchesa she sported in 2012 and the red brush stroke Alexander McQueen she wore in 2011.

This year's frock just might be her best yet: featuring black beaded embroidery with a scallop-edged top over a silk corset and a wide velvet belt over the pleated wide skirt, it's definitely one for the Mobama hall of fame.
