Designers scramble to get their clothes on Kate Middleton because when she wears their outfits, they immediately sell out (hence, the "Kate Effect").

Take the Diane Von Furstenberg wrap dress the Duchess of Cambridge sported in Australia last week, which sold out within minutes after photos were released. Or the Seraphine maternity dress Catherine wore for her official family portrait, which went out of stock in two hours.

Needless to say, she's a designer's dream come true. However, a couple of unlucky designers felt the brunt of Duchess Kate's rejection during her royal tour in Australia.

In the lead-up to her trip Down Under, the 31-year-old future Queen Consort requested dresses from Melbourne-based designer Megan Park and fashion label Scanlan Theodore, only to later send them back.

Designer Park told the Daily Telegraph, "In terms of exposure it would be flattering to have it on a gorgeous woman who has such an impact on the designers she follows."

Park revealed that she was notified in January that Kate was interested in her designs and ended up choosing a geometric silk dress which was hand-delivered to Buckingham Palace.

Unfortunately for Park, the dress was returned to her mid-April with an email that read, "It was decided she wouldn’t wear it but she loved it but would like to stay in touch and consider it as a brand for the future."

Similarly, Sydney brand Scanlan Theodore sent dresses to Middleton for a fitting two months ago but was notified two weeks ago that the outfits didn't work out.

While this was probably a major disappointment for the designers, we're sure Duchess Catherine of Cambridge had good reason to not wear the frocks. She's been on a major style role thus far!
