A woman was nearly pushed into the path of a moving SkyTrain at Commercial and Broadway station in Vancouver.
The young woman was standing on the westbound platform early Monday morning when a man grabbed her shoulder and pushed her towards the tracks, according to a news release from Transit Police. She wobbled but managed to regain her balance just as the train was pulling into the station.
Shocked, she then got on the train and has not been seen since, prompting Transit Police to issue a request for her to come forward.
A witness reported the incident, describing the victim as in her mid 20s, possibly Asian, and 5'3" to 5'5" tall with a slim build.
The 25-year-old suspect was taken into custody and then to hospital for a psychiatric assessment. Charges are pending, according to Transit Police.
"Due to the approaching train and the dangers associated to the electric current on the tracks, this young womanβs life was endangered," said the force's statement.
